Questions of Consent with Molly Tipping

This event was held on Tuesday 21 November, 2023. Click on the View Event button below to access and purchase the recording.

In this ASTER conversation Molly Tipping, Feldenkrais practitioner and consent educator, considers the following questions:

How can we foster an alive, engaging and embodied consensual culture? How do we embody principles of consent, how do we develop language for consent, and how do we provide opportunities for conversation, communication and agency?

Molly’s work draws on practice-led and deeply thoughtful approaches to creating safety and engagement in movement-based practices and beyond.

Molly will shared some valuable frameworks, tools and practices for ‘doing consent’ in the somatic landscape. As well as considering how we can use consensual protocols in our teaching and practice, she reflected on what our somatic skills can bring to the conversation. Let’s build our collective capacity to engage with the complex questions of consent.

IMAGINATION & SOMATICS - An ASTER Conversation exploring the dynamic & generative relationship between the imagination & somatics

IMAGINATION & SOMATICS - An ASTER Conversation exploring the dynamic & generative relationship between the imagination & somatics

What is the relationship between imagination and somatics? How does it function in your life and/or practice? Imagination is part of our embodied design and key to our capacity for novelty, creativity, problem solving and agility among many things. Let’s pool our lived experience and grow our collective understanding of this core life skill.

To get things rolling, the ASTER crew will begin with a discussion and experiential practice. Then it’s your turn in small groups to share your experience and ideas. Finally, we’ll dive into a collective conversation about the power and significance of imagination in your personal and professional practices.

Here are some of the ways we think about and play with imagination. Before we gather we wanted to offer these sparks/thoughts/prompts:

  • Imagination as pathway to intangible things inside & outside

  • Imagination for crafting embodied awareness

  • Imagination for experimentation

  • Imagination for activating & manifesting somatic experience

We look forward to having an ASTER Conversation with you on Zoom.
